Ice Strengthened Research Vessels
The United States Antarctic Program utalizes two ice strengthened research vessels for oceanographic research and
logistical support for Palmer Station. The two vessels,
Nathaniel B. Palmerand the Laurence M. Gould
are leased for exclusive use in Antarctic waters by the
National Science Foundation from Edison Chouest Offshore, Galliano La. To learn more about each ship,
